Date Chutney

Ingredients:

1.3kg/3lbs dates, stoned and very roughly chopped
450g white parts spring onions, chopped
225g raisins
100g currants
225g sugar
50g salt
25g allspice
12g mustard seed
1.1L 2pts vinegar

Instructions:

1) Prepare the jars: process in boiling water bath (water to cover top of jars) for 15 minutes, remove jars to wire racks and cool.

2) slowly bring to the boil all ingredients and cook gently, stirring from time to time, until soft and thick.

3) spoon the hot mixture into warm jars, seal.
