Ingredients
8oz wholmeal self - raising flour
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1 tsp baking powder
4 oz butter
2 oz brown sugar
2 medium size cooking apples, peeled, cored and finely chopped
1 medium egg
Method
Preheat oven at 375F gas 5
1) mix the flour, cinnamon, and baking powder together in a bowl, rub the butter, stir in the sugar , apple and the egg
2) mould into 10 or 12 small, rough heaps and place on a floured baking sheet ( the mixture must not be too wet or the scones will lose their "rocky" shape
3) bake for 20-25 minutes, allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack.
Serve split in half with butter or wiping cream
